Optimal decisions on software release and post-release testing: A unified approach

In this research, a novel approach is developed where testing team delivers the software product first and extends process for additional time in user environment. During operational phase, users also participate fault detection notify defects to software. study, reliability growth model proposed using unified based on expenditure of efforts during process. Besides, debugging considered imperfect as new faults may enter each removal. The further considers that developer?s rate defect identification changes with release. Thus, time-to-market acts change-point failure observation phenomenon. It asserted accuracy estimation improves by implementing concept change-point. main aim paper evaluate optimal release termination two attributes, particularly, reliability, cost. A multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT) applied find trade-off between conflicting attributes. Finally, numerical example presented historical count data. behavior decision variables measured compared existing strategy.
